Permanent anaesthetic and recovery nurse role in a hospital setting Work within a supportive and experienced theatre team Opportunity to work across a variety of surgical specialties About the Role Limelight People are seeking an experienced Anaesthetic and Recovery Nurse to join a busy and well-established operating theatre team in Tasmania. In this dual role, you will provide high-quality care to patients during the anaesthetic phase as well as in the Post Anaesthetic Care Unit (PACU), ensuring a safe and smooth surgical journey. You will work closely with anaesthetists, surgeons, and theatre staff to support patients before, during, and after procedures. This position requires strong clinical skills, adaptability, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment. Key Responsibilities: Monitor and assess patients before, during, and after anaesthesia Assist the anaesthetist during induction, maintenance, and emergence Prepare and check anaesthetic equipment prior to procedures Provide airway management and patient support throughout procedures Monitor patients in PACU and manage recovery from anaesthesia Administer medications and pain relief as prescribed Recognise and respond to intraoperative and post-operative complications Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation Deliver safe, patient-centred care in line with best practice Communicate effectively with the multidisciplinary team Ensure smooth handover of patients to ward staff Support and mentor junior staff and students Participate in ongoing training and professional development Contribute to quality improvement and patient safety initiatives Benefits & Perks Permanent position within a respected healthcare organisation Supportive and collaborative team environment Opportunities for ongoing education and professional development Exposure to a broad range of surgical specialties Career progression opportunities within the organisation Work-life balance in a scenic Tasmanian location Requirements Registered Nurse with current AHPRA registration Previous experience in anaesthetics and/or recovery (PACU) Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills Excellent communication and teamwork skills Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment Commitment to delivering safe, high-quality patient care Additional Requirements Compliance with workplace health and safety policies Up-to-date immunisations and health checks as required Desirable ALS (Advanced Life Support) certification Postgraduate qualifications in perioperative nursing Experience supporting or mentoring junior staff Apply Now This is a fantastic opportunity to join a high-performing theatre team and further develop your perioperative nursing career.
